This past weekend my husband participated in The 2015 Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride. The ride is organized to raise awareness and help fund the cure to for prostate cancer. The ride takes place in over 400 cities in 79 countries around the world.

One of the slogans for the ride is– Dapper for a Cause. The subtitle read, “I say! What a spiffy blazer. Who is your tailor, sir?” That is exactly what we saw there– tweed blazers, deeply polished boots of every description, silk pocket squares, tailored dress pants, and perfectly waxed mustaches!

So in celebration of the ride, especially for the cause of fighting prostate cancer, here’s a look at what Perry wore!

Alright, I’ll admit it. I do have favorites in the wardrobe realm. Do you? For example: Red, Gray, and Green is one of my favorite color stories. Example: Red and tortoise accents are also some of my favorite. Example: A little touch or menswear inspiration never hurt any outfit, i.e. these chinos.

So I do play favorites in what I wear, and I think it’s great. It’s great because these combinations seem to jive for me on a consistent basis. It’s great because you don’t have to overthink every outfit decision or everyday wear. Just throw it on and go.

So I might not wear these heels for a day in the carpool, drop off, gym visit, dishwasher loading, laundry folding, soccer gaming. I might substitute a pair of red flats. But I WOULD wear this getup on a casual date night where I can get away with heels. That would be A-O-KAY!

Today is rainy, cold, and decidedly Autumn. So today really is the day, friends. Pull out that PLAID!!! This is not the first, nor will it be the last time I feature plaid here on Refined + Rugged. Why? Because it is one of my loves.

Maybe the number one print I am drawn to (polka dots falling closely behind). And maybe my second favorite cold-weather wearable, after sweaters.

Plaid or no plaid, I hope you have a BEAUTIFUL Autumn Tuesday!!!

I love texture– and tweed is no exception. This dress has been a wardrobe rockstar. For everything from church wear to a fun night-out option, it’s perfect. As it was an offering from last year, I’ve linked this year’s nude/plum version below. Take a look and see what you think.

We are cruising toward Friday at this point, and I couldn’t be more excited. My husband will be riding his second Lotoja race this weekend, and I’m the support driver. Please send all love, care, and good karma our way! What are your plans this weekend? Is it too early in the week to ask?

Yes. Overalls. For fall. Haven’t owned a pair of these since 1995 and I am LOVING them! Why? Because they are overalls!!!

Plus, these have perfectly placed rips, that just-right fade, and a much better back cut than my mid 90s pair… If I remember correctly.

This past weekend was just what the doctor ordered. Plenty of rest, plenty of movement, and plenty of delicious food in just the right amounts! I hope you are enjoying the September Sweat Sessions.
