Oh, America! I’m so happy you were born! Not simply because I get to wear your colors and your symbols. But truly, I am proud to be an American.

I don’t really do FAVORITES. I don’t have a favorite color. I don’t have a favorite kid. (That would be bad, right?) I have lots of candy I likes, but I’m not discriminating. I like gummi, and fruity, and chocolate, and cinnamon, and ice cream, and cupcakes, and cookies all the same.

So no surprise, I don’t have a favorite Holiday. The 4th of July is right up there with Easter (because we always go to Moab), and Christmas (because, who doesn’t like Jesus and Santa?), and my Birthday.

I do have a soft spot for what I’ll call Americana styling for lack of a better term, and yes you can cue the Old Crow Medicine Show, Mumford and Sons, The Wailin’ Jenny’s (even though they might be Canadian), and Willie Nelson.

I love me some red white and blue in any combination. Now careful, because I do draw the line at fully wearing the flag, and head scarves with screaming eagles powering down on the stars and stripes. But I really do love to dress in the red, white, and blue.

Here in Utah we have the distinction of being able to carry our Americana from May 30th all the way through July 24th. Pioneer Day, folks, if you’ve never heard that one. So I’ve styled up some outfits to get you through these star spangled Holidays, and heck, I’d encourage you to try out your red, white, and blue style savvy any month of the year!

What a beautiful evening we had last night. The boys rode in a weekly mountain bike race series here in the valley. The pizza from dominos was perfectly cooked! The breeze coming off the canal moved the warm air with perfect gentleness, and the sunset seemed endless. Shifting veins of flaming orange fueling the feathers of each dusty lavender brushstroke.

Sigh.

This outfit has been a summer go to as the top is truly a throw on and go number. Easily dressed up with some bangles or a bracelet cuff. I’ve already worn it with a pair of neon jeans, holy shorts, and the army green boyfriend shorts seen here.

This outfit is just about as standard as they come. Camo jacket, grey tee, jean skirt, converse. CHECK. The reality is, outfits like these are the ones that get me through the everyday. So it may be standard, but this ensemble is just right for REAL LIFE!

Plus, if you haven’t gotten on the army surplus/camo train yet, you might be pleasantly surprised with how flexible and wardrobe friendly these pieces are. Jacket, t-shirt, or pants, I’ve seen this trend worn in multiple ways and all of them add some outfit fun. I have worn this same coat over a hot pink dress to diffuse the princess and anything striped also looks great in contrast to camo. Who knew?

I really cannot get enough of the all-white get up. I wore another all white look earlier this Spring, and it still feels so right as our green hills turn a little more yellow.

The crisp clean of all-white just speaks to me. Yes, I realize that it also speaks to super visible stains and sticky hand prints for all of you primary parents out there. Yes, I realize for SO MANY reasons it seems completely impractical, but I’ll continue to lean on clorox as my excuse to wear this sort of mix.

This week has already been so full, I cannot believe it is only Tuesday. I am looking forward to the rest of our goings and doings and hoping you are each having and experiencing a wonderful existence in this time sequence!

Let me back up a little bit and give you a bit of Pope Watch Co. history, i.e. allow me to brag for a moment. Ahem.

Pope was started in 2013 by my husband, Perry. He worked with a watchmaker in Switzerland who aligned with his design and manufacturing vision. He designed every detail of P-70 himself. He had a cad team draft the 3-D specs, did all of the advertising and marketing for the watch up front, and Kickstarted the project successfully that same year!
