Last Palm Springs outfits posting this week. The sun has finally come out in the mountains and we were so ready for it!

This past weekend we hosted some fun Birthday activities for our youngest son’s B-day. A BBQ on Sunday and bowling with friends on Monday kept us going!

We have the awesome opportunity to hang out with some amazing little friends of ours this summer, and together we have also been given the chance to go to a friend’s ranch for horse back riding lessons.

We had our first lesson yesterday and honestly, it was incredible. I cannot tell you the excitement and joy on my boys’ faces just to be near such beautiful creatures. So Monday morning was spent at Circle O Ranch, and the entire afternoon was given over to slip and sliding and enjoying the summer sun. It already feels as though we’ve had a full week and it’s only Tuesday!!

This outfit (as previously noted, a Palm Springs pic) was really just cool and comfy for another pool day. The scarf is a new favorite and on sale now over at Anthropologie, here. I’ve been in this really blue mood lately. Not my emotions, just the color palate I’ve been drawn to. This week is already on a roll! I hope you’re able to roll with it!

Lime Green Sweaters and Tile Stairwells

DSC_0146 DSC_0143 DSC_0150 Another snap of pink. perfect for Saturday! I hope you are all having an absolutely relaxing weekend. We are putting the finishing touches on our deck, and prepping for a family Birthday dinner. The sun is finally out, and it really does feel like summer here!!!

Another outfit brought to you by beautiful Melanie. The contrast of these two brights– the pink of the bag, and the green of her sweater– were just right for Palm Springs attire. A sweater in Palm Springs? You may ask. But the weather was really quite temperate when we arrived. Only in the high 70s, so you really could get away with wearing a light sweater.

Every detail of the La Quinta was gorgeous. Just look at the tile on this stairway! The white-washed walls, blue doors, and gorgeous red tiled roofs of each group of casas was a treat for the eyes.

Hope your Saturday is as refreshing as a Palm Springs vacation!!

Hey, HEY! Giving a shout out to my best friend Melanie today as she is my very first GUEST POST here at Refined + Rugged.

You didn’t think I went to Palm Springs alone, did you? Nope. It was a full-on Mama’s Relaxing Weekend Retreat at the La Quinta. Just. So. Good.

It’s a darn good thing we took so many outfit photos. Here in the mountains the rain hasn’t subsided but for a few small breaks these past few weeks, and we haven’t had a chance to snap any outfit shots! Another week of these summery, palm-filled photos and hopefully we’ll be boasting some mountain sunshine and some real-time outfit photos.

I am seriously still wearing long sleeved shirts and long pants on the daily. No need for short sleeves or sandals! It’s been too cold. This weather has also put a serious cramp in my outdoor cycling time, too. Thankfully I busted out the door yesterday with a good friend to take advantage of a relatively calm window midst rain showers. I have a 100 mile ride coming up in just over a week (eeeek!), and DANG! I really need to get out there!

Is this cactus garden the BOMB, or what?! I could not get enough! Melanie’s pink shirt was the perfect standout against this little cactus Eden. When it comes to outfit photos she was a NATURAL. Plus, this top is currently on sale, so scroll to the details below and scoop one up for yourself as a Summer treat!

Have a glorious Thursday!

Batik Print and Blue Doors

Hello! How has this Tuesday turned Monday been treating you? School is winding down for my oldest, only a week left! We are excited for Summer break to begin. If you are in need of Summer activity ideas, check out my post from earlier this month for 17 fun ideas to get your Summer started!

Another outfit from our Palm Springs girls fete! I actually wore this top for Memorial Day with some rockin’ flares. It added the perfect amount of boho to a very chill, very rainy Memorial Day.

The batik print and flowy cut are an ideal Summer pick as the top easily doubles as a shirt or swim cover when paired with shorts. I hope the sun finds you on this Tuesday, and that all is right in your world.

Azul and the Pool

Upon returning from Palm Springs one of my dearest friends asked, “So what did you do while you were there in Palm Springs?”

I thought about my response for a moment. “Nothing.” I replied, “We really didn’t do a thing other than lay pool-side!” It was the truth. Each morning we’d indulge in a leisurely breakfast. I opted for an egg-white omelet and side of fruit almost every day. Then we’d head back to our casa, lather up with sunscreen, don our swimsuits, pack water and reading material and go straight to the pool.

It was PERFECT. Not a care in the world but trying to decide what to read, or sip, or whether it was time for another cooling dip!

Today that pool seems far away. We’ve had rain upon rain upon rain. WONDERFUL for the mountains, but certainly not 90 and sunny. The grounds of the La Quinta were so lush and lovely. Grapefruit and lime trees lined the median next to the sidewalks. Bougainvillea, roses, and hibiscus graced every garden plot.

This dress has proved the perfect summer maxi for two summers running now. It even has a back story. I followed a dress almost identical to this one on J.Crew for months. It was the same blue, the same cut but it was A LOT more expensive because it was 100% silk. I kept waiting to see a sale or price drop without success. At some point I gave up stalking the dress online– it sold out. While shopping around Old Navy with my sister one day, I laid eyes on this version.

SOLD! It was 1/8 of the price, and just as fun! The blue is vibrant, and the length of the dress is just right. Unfortunately this style is no longer available, but I’ve linked some similar options below. Thank goodness it’s Thursday!!!
