When it comes to maxi dresses I have to admit that I have had a hard time finding any that I really love.

They are either too short or too long, too billowy or too skin tight. I did borrow a black formal maxi dress from my sister when we sang a duet for an event YEARS ago. But none have caught my eye since.

Sometimes when we’re out for a date, or headed to an activity we try to take the scenic route. It feels slightly victorian, like heading out on a Sunday drive (we love those, too). But I never tire of the endless glory of the views around these parts, so I’m sure we’ll keep after these mountain excursions.

This top is quickly becoming a summer favorite. I’ve paired it with shorts and skirts, and now this pair of cropped high rise jeans and heels for our date night. This nod to the 70s bohemian style has really been a wonderful resurgence in fashion in my opinion. Lace details, more forgiving forms and fabrics, along with bell sleeves and bell bottoms. I’m a fan!

I’ve worn this skirt for several dates and dressier events this past fall/winter. But it is always exciting to reimagine a piece in your wardrobe and make it perfect for the MOMENT!

I give you, the casual sporty version of a leather skirt. Perfect for errands, car pool, and maybe even a casual Friday depending on your workplace dress code.

Ah! These pictures really do look as fresh as today and yesterday have been! I realize that there’s an abundance of red in my outfit posts. It’s simply one of my favorite colors. When you love a color this much you can give it some extra punch by doubling up! Red, red!

Overkill? Perhaps. But I really liked how jazzy this outfit was to wear. I hope you had a fantastic holiday if your are in the States, or a wonderful Monday if you are elsewhere around the world. We’re gearing up for our last week of school, and I’m headed to ride another century this weekend with the ladies!

I saw a fabulous post on Alicia’s blog, Cheetah is the New Black, a few days ago regarding her memorial day getaway. I absolutely loved the pieces she chose for her post. This is what I wish I was wearing this fine Memorial Day! Easy, and polished all at once. My kind of vibe, for sure. What are your Memorial Day plans? Will you be barbecuing with friends? Out on the lake for a boat ride? Holing up in a cool theater to see a new flick?

I am so grateful for the men and women who have served our country in the Armed Forces. I am equally grateful for a day to remember any who have departed before us. I know that this is a very special day of remembrance for myself and so many. Life is precious. Enjoy the micro moments.

Whatever your plans, I hope you are able to hold your little ones closer, linger in the arms of a loved one, or hold hands with your partner just a little tighter.
