I saw that L.A. was somewhere in the 80 and 90 degree range these past few weeks. WHAT?!? I realize it’s supposed to be cooling off for you all this week, but some of us who have sun with snow are still amazed.

Maybe one of the most difficult parts of winter is keeping your outerwear interesting. I’ve spoken about this before, but for me the solution to a coat that you reach for day after day in cold winter climates is COLOR.

This oxblood ultralight down hoody from Patagonia has been a lifesaver. The aubergine tone helps me mix and match it like a cardigan, and that Patagonia tech keeps me warm and toasty even on the days we hit sub zeros.

A couple of those coats are some spring trench options I’ve been eyeing. But the rest are hard core warm plus hard core stylish. Perfect for sub zeros and all.

Plus, white jeans are a fun way to Spring-ify an outfit, even if the coat you’re wearing still has to be lined in Thinsulate (yes, my coat is!!! Find it here).

I also received a fabulous cut from my stylist Micall Owens at Elevate Salon. She does an incredible job both with the cut and with the fact that I vacillate continuously between “let’s grow it out” and “let’s chop it all off”!

I went for “chop it off” this time, and I LOVE the results. What does this Tuesday hold for you? A haircut? A client meeting? A trip to Costco? A walk at the park? A carpool? Whatever your plans, I hope your day is GGGGGGGGREAT!

After all of my talk about embracing winter and loving all of this white stuff, we are getting away this weekend to warmer weather!

I have been telling myself this is ONLY because we will be able to ride our bikes outdoors for long distances, but who am I kidding? I am really excited to see 70 + degrees!

Are any of you scheduled to take a hiatus with your Valentine to a sunny destination, trading in the polar vortex for sunny and 70, 80, 90?!? I’ve put together a little getaway packing list with some warm weather wear for your tropical, desert, or beach destination!!!

One of the easiest ways to pack is to pick a simple color palate. In this case the MOST SIMPLE– black and white– and then add fun accessories. Tassel earrings, colorful sandals, beaded necklaces, and dressed up handbags!

You don’t have to settle on black and white by any stretch. Go for blues, and mix up all of your denim. Shoot for pink, and then accessorize in neutrals. Any combination that makes your eye happy will do.

I had so many alternative titles for this post. Fair Isle, Not Fair Weather, Baby It’s (STILL) Cold Outside, or my personal favorite because Heaven knows I can’t help myself when it comes to alliteration: Gale Force Groundhog. And on that note…

Happy Groundhog Day, friends! I have yet to hear if the little bugger saw his shadow, or not. My son came home from school wishing for just two more weeks until Spring. But if these pictures give you any inkling, we’re VERY far from feeling or being Spring-like where weather is concerned.

Don’t tell anyone, but I am loving it. All the fashion mags have come out with their glossy photos of Spring attire. I usually fall for it, hoping that Spring is right around the corner. Not this year. This year I am committed to enjoying WINTER! I’m not saying it isn’t long. I’m not saying it isn’t gray, dark, and dismal at times. But this year, folks, we have SNOW!

Real snow! So while so many are looking forward, I am hanging on hoping that we’ll get a few more epic dumps of the white stuff. Plus, my sweater collection is out in full force. Where do you stand concerning the Groundhog and his Day? Are you wishing you were experiencing warmer temps? Or are you happy with your current climate status?
